Jesus was a Democrat?
Yeah, I'm probably gonna catch some shrapnel for posting this, but the question remains...
If your experience informs your conscience, you can understand why this song, or at the very least the lyrics, will resonate with a LOT of people.
There is SO MUCH ANGER that "Compassionate Conservative" ended up equalling the stripping of basic, guaranteed rights.
8 years to show compassion. Give me a concrete example of it.
Ignorance must be bliss, because knowing is very troubling.

Cardboard Testimonies
I found this very moving.
It also made me think, how do you get your life down to two phrases? What a relief to not have to go into details!

My Superpower: Human Jukebox
After I wrote a LONG entry, I found this video, which sums up my current quandary.
Puzzling Pundit! Where R U?
I've made no secret of my admiration for Ron Paul. A *lot* of us these days describe ourselves as "libertarian leaning."
A memory came to mind today that I thought might be good to share.
I went to visit a former, and most beloved, teacher after university classes.
The Presidential election was in sight.
She casually asked about my political leanings.
I enthusiastically told her I was neither straight vote Republican or Democrat. Feeling *really* progressive, and in trusted company, I confided that I intended to vote Libertarian in my first-ever election!
The look on my dear teacher's face would have frozen a lightening bolt.
"Libertarians are outright racists!!!"
We both just sat there, watching each other's reactions. I had NEVER heard such a thing. After some research, the accusation proved to be accurate.
That was almost 20 years ago.
Is there a lingering perception the Libertarian party is racist?
Is that perception justified?
What influences lead voters to turn from the other parties toward the LP?
Just thoughts before the election.
This is some election year.
Pax!

New Puppy
As some might know, I am not a huge fan of large dogs. That said, I absolutely adore our Jack the Great Pyrenees.
I've missed having a lap dog. I didn't realize I missed having a lap dog, because I have so many little laptops, er, children.
With the big kids in school, and huge leaps toward actual cleanliness in the house, a little miracle happened.
Some friends found an abandoned Shi Tzu near their home. I ***LOVE*** Shi Tzus.
The little gal had a really hard time. She was obviously well cared for, as her hair was trimmed and nails clipped.
Sadly, she now has only one eye, and (had) a ton of fleas. 7 flea dips required to provide relief.
Shi Tzus are notorious for having sensitive skin, so tomorrow we will provide her will further relief in the form of an anti-itch spray.
I hope to have pictures of our cute little "Bitsy" online tomorrow. She's a real keeper... already house broken and very mild mannered. NOT a yipping dog, either. She has a cute bark, actually.
If you are surfing about and found this post, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not drop your unwanted pets off in the middle of "nowhere." They can get really hurt before someone finds them. Also, it's pretty danged mean to pull a nursing mother away from her pups. There are plenty of no-kill shelters who will find your little one a home!
That said, I am very, very happy Bitsy now calls our house her home.

Baby? BOOM!
Wow, a lot of family and friends have had or are expecting babies!
Adventures in parenting are always fun with Rodney Atkins. Grab a beer/wine/mineral water with lemon, and enjoy!
For all Kings & Queens with a little Prince

For a young lady I love, no matter what. Stick it out, gal. "All who wander are not lost!" -J.R.R. Tolkien
And an extra goodie, just 'cause I'm feelin' the local love. Yaaaaahooo! Come on, WEEKEND!

For those of you who believe...
Turns out just about EVERYTHING they taught me in school about "how the world works" what pure bologna.
First, I was surprised to learn that our stock markets are, and by law will be manipulated. The plunge protection team is hard at work saving the DJIA & S&P from it's natural state these days. Ever heard of the PPT, aka the Plunge Protection Team?
And of course if you only take BUY orders the market goes up:
"If this was purely electronic, it could have been down 1,200 or 1,300 [points] on the Dow," Bernie McSherry, a senior vice president with Cuttone & Co., the largest independent floor operator at the NYSE, told the news service.
You can't make this stuff up... But I guess we should be glad. Otherwise I'd be stocking up on toilet paper and beans right about now.

Too busy to blog
It's that time of year... the great race to keep up with events. And they're off!
The Bois D'Arc Bash was last weekend. We enjoyed the music Friday night, but had to miss out on the rest of the weekend due to the eldest coming home with pinkeye. Fortunately, the illness did *not* spread like wildfire. Only one down... 6 spared!
All but 2 endured 3 days of food poisoning. It was hell on earth, let me tell you! Recovery and cleaning expected to take several days.
Soccer, local new Church dedication, fall festivals galore, and Oktoberfest! Much on the plate, but it's all good fun.
Hugs to all. See ya 'round the bend!
