Nonserviam - A parody (actually 2)

After much consternation at Amy Winehouse's great Grammy coup, I decided to come up with my own "No! No! No!" song...

Mama asked me to sweep this floor up
But I say, "No! No! No!"
Yes, it's turning black
Crayons fell out of the pack
As we all know know know
I ain't got the time
But for 20 minutes I'll whine
You think I've gotta clean this mess up
but I want to go go go

I'd rather go outside and play
It's finally not a rainy day
Cause there's nothing
there's NOTHIN' I want more
Than to roam about and play star wars

I didn't finish up my math
But I know I could do it in a flash

Mama asked me to tidy the family room
but I say, "No! No! No!"
Yes it's a briar patch
through which I can't cut a path
As we all know, know know
I ain't got the time
I'd rather read Red Wall -that book is mine
Daddy yells, "Clean up this room now!"
I'll do it slow, slow, slow

Father says, "Why do you think you here?"
I said, "I caused my parents tears..."
I'm gonna, I'm gonna try to be good
so I will check my chores and get in gear
He said, "I just think you've confessed,
Get on out there, pray hard, do your best!"

They tried to make me stop the movie
But I said, "No! No! No!"
Yes the pups are on attack
and the food is in the sack
As we all know know know

I don't ever wanna slack again
Nonserviam is for the condemned
I'm not gonna fuss cry or pout
"As you wish!" is what love's about!!

It's not just my pride
It's just til these urges subside

I guess I missed cleanin' the hallway
Uh oh... no! no! no!
Yes I'm sidetracked
but here are the broom and sack
Oh! I know! know! know!

My siblings need my time
and if my Daddy says, "It's time!"
We all get to go play outside
So here we go! go! go!

@@@@@@ Now, the parents' version @@@@@@

They want to hear another story
but I say, "No! No! No!"
Sleepiness attacks ' cause the sky has turned to black
To bed you go go go
I ain't got the time
since House MD is on at nine
I know it's too bad for you, oh yes I know know know

I'd rather hang out with your Dad
After hours... ain't that sad
Cause there's nothing
There's nothing quite as cool
As the end of the day if you homeschool

I didn't have time to present the class
But I know for sure that you will you will pass

They tried to make me play some baseball
But I said, "No! No! No!"
Yes the weather's fine but I'm tired outta my mind
Dontcha know know know
I ain't got the time and Daddy thinks that's fine
Think I'll cook some lunch now
Huh... here I go go go

Then Father said, "I know why you're here"
I said, "Yeah... you get the idea.
I look at them, look at them and don't see Christ
so I divert myself by late computing nights."
He said, "I think you'd best get more rest
oh yeah that's a sin it's called SLEEP DEP!"

They tried to get me to make pancakes
but I said, "No! No! No!"
You know my mood is black, there are rice crispies in the sack
as you all know know know

I don't ever wanna slack again
Nonserviam is for the condemned
I'm not gonna huff around, then laze about
"As you wish!" is what love's about!!

It's not just my pride
It's just I haven't hit my stride

The doctor says get some sleep now
But I say no no no!
Yes I need the slumber but I have this info hunger
as we all know know know
I ain't got the time
But if my Hubby thinks it's fine
He's saying let's go get sleep now
so here I go go go

g'nite!

ayudame

According to a National Geographic geography quiz,

how much of the United States' annual population growth is due to immigration?

33%

33 per cent...

so the next time someone gives me that "you are overpopulating our nation!" glower, I'll just think of 33...

...and smile...

Battle of the Brain

So, occasionally, a song pops into my brain that alters my mood (or sets the course of moodiness.)

Driving home the other day, it was an extended battle between
Disintegration

and
Catch

For once, the soft, sweet song overtook the bitter, call me Humpty-Dumpty song

Yay! Good brain... good brain! Pax et bonum!

Adoption Option Part III

From outta no where, I recalled the National Council for Adoption.

Help financing adoption is located here.

Lots of very good information available from this website.

Adoption Option Part II

From John McCain:

n 1993, John McCain and his wife, Cindy, adopted a little girl from Mother Teresa's orphanage in Bangladesh. She has been a blessing to the McCain family and helped make adoption advocacy a personal issue for the Senator.

The McCain family experience is not unique; millions of families have had their lives transformed by the adoption of a child. As president, motivated by his personal experience, John McCain will seek ways to promote adoption as a first option for women struggling with a crisis pregnancy. In the past, he cosponsored legislation to prohibit discrimination against families with adopted children, to provide adoption education, and to permit tax deductions for qualified adoption expenses, as well as to remove barriers to interracial and inter-ethnic adoptions.

I like that he actually addresses this as an issue.

I think tax deductions would be too little, too late, because the up front expense of adoption is generally quite high.

I am not sure how the Missionaries of Charity adoptions work, but that is simply because I am not there yet...

We do have a group of these fine ladies in Dallas (my cousin had her baby when she lived with the nuns).

Worth looking into... when I'm done mourning the loss of usable fertility.

The pro-life platform McCain is running on also makes sense, especially the bolded part (my emphasis) the campaign italicized the last bit for emphasis, too

John McCain believes Roe v. Wade is a flawed decision that must be overturned, and as president he will nominate judges who understand that courts should not be in the business of legislating from the bench. Constitutional balance would be restored by the reversal of Roe v. Wade, returning the abortion question to the individual states. The difficult issue of abortion should not be decided by judicial fiat.

However, the reversal of Roe v. Wade represents only one step in the long path toward ending abortion. Once the question is returned to the states, the fight for life will be one of courage and compassion - the courage of a pregnant mother to bring her child into the world and the compassion of civil society to meet her needs and those of her newborn baby. The pro-life movement has done tremendous work in building and reinforcing the infrastructure of civil society by strengthening faith-based, community, and neighborhood organizations that provide critical services to pregnant mothers in need. This work must continue and government must find new ways to empower and strengthen these armies of compassion. These important groups can help build the consensus necessary to end abortion at the state level. As John McCain has publicly noted, "At its core, abortion is a human tragedy. To effect meaningful change, we must engage the debate at a human level."

The Adoption Option

This came in from G:

I was thinking, what can be done to help lower abortion levels AND help kids. Then I thought, make adoption FREE. Why does adoption cost thousands of dollars? What besides the middle man's profit makes the pricetag so damn high? I have no idea. If they don't have the backbone to make it free, do it on a sliding scale based on the kids age. The older the child the less it costs. We all know the babies go quick. But once a kid is walking and talking, they go to the back on the line. Their prime adoption days are past. I say we push this.

Push, indeed! This is an important issue. One of the most important, IMHO. As his idea evolves into a plan of action, I'll post here for all my big hearted friends to consider.

Love

I'd like a little cream in my espresso

The Clintonites must be mad.

Saying the coalition Barack Obama is building between blacks and "latte liberals" will fail is
just
so
unspeakably
STUPID!!!

I am for Ron Paul 100%, and will likely go to any march on Washington he wants.

But, if it comes down to McCain vs Obama, I'm telling you now, I *will have* an Obama sticker on my car.

I know what the Clintonites are insinuating, but they will probably miss the fact entirely that

Gen X + coffeehouses = latte liberals they never DREAMED could EXIST

compassionate conservatism has NOT represented US or served anyone well

All hail the LATTE LIBERALS!

Oh, yeah... just for grins...
go give a thumbs DOWN
to the Urban Dictionary's
definition of Latte Liberal!!

Contemplating Lent

Lent comes early this year... I believe the last time Lent began this early was 1856.

Can't quite recall what the bulletin said last week.

In any case, it has been a looooooong time since Lent began in this near a proximity to Christmas.

The Holy Father's Lenten Message is a rich study of the art of alms giving.

I can call it an art, because I know a handful of true alms-giving artists.

Oh, how I wish I could imitate them. They are amazingly generous folks.

And while I can give it all up to goodwill (and shop there, too), am I really showing solidarity with the "poorest of the poor."

No, I am not. And it is to my shame.

So, will I intellectualize the Holy Father's letter this year, or will I learn to live it?
